It has already started. The official kick-off was July 1st. All central location dumpsters are in place. We are in the process of ordering inside bins, preparing media materials, and will launch all as soon as they arrive. At a later point, a food waste recycling component will also be added to the program.
Yes, they have been replaced by bins and dumpsters for beverage containers, paper + cardboard, green waste, and garbage. The custodians are welcome to begin using the new dumpsters now.
If you encounter anything that is out of the ordinary then please contact us so that we can help identify how we can assist in the proper disposal of that material.
As part of this program, the San Jose Conservation Corps will be working with each facility to provide outreach and education to teachers, administrators, custodians, and students to ensure that everyone is aware and can participate by discarding their materials into the proper containers within the program.
SJCC+CS will still provide service and assist in cleaning out the dumpsters; however, if this occurs too frequently, we will have to charge an additional cleanup cost for our teams to repeatedly perform this activity.
SJCC+CS has added another component into waste management services in the form of a large item pickup service. Given the resources needed to perform a large item pick, we can only offer this service on two week rotations and we will schedule things out on a first come, first serve basis.
SJCC has been integrated into the Work Order System (Help Desk), so you can contact us utilizing this method.
